Default A Call to Arms : How you can help us during the BWE

Alright, the BWE is hours away and, as requested, here's a list of things that this site is interested in obtaining over the course of those few days. If you'd like to help out, we'll certainly accept and appreciate all the aid you can give us.

Our first priorities are screenshots and skills. We'd like to have as many images of thigs as we can to add to the site. And we'd also like to have our skills current and up-to-date. Next is armor, we'd like our armor information to be similarly up-to-date as well as an image of each piece of armor for each sex for each profession (That's a lot but not nearly as much as it sounds like due to armor graphics being reused). And items and their modifiers are also of great interest, we'd like to find and catalog as many modifiers as possible and while we're at it gather some data on items, too. And there are things beyond that we could probably use some help with, too.

This is all, of course, on the "upaid volunteer" basis. None of this is required nor is it meant to be. Your reward is that you'll be helping us out and helping to futher the knowledge of the game.

So, let's go over what all you can do to help out :

That's what we really want to find, although, of course, we actually want to find anything and everything. So, if you've got something besides what's listed above you're interested in finding out - say you want to help confirm Ensign's damage equation or Zrave's weapon speeds or want to see whether stances cancel the stance you're currently using - feel free both to post your ideas here as well as to go ahead on your own and tell us all about it.

Thanks in advance fr your help and don't forget to have some fun while you're at it.

You got it, I'll do what I can.

I run that game with all details on except no post processing. 8xS AA, 16X Aniso, vertical sync, trilinear optimizations on @1600x1200 res. My plan is to do a bit more gambling this time around to see if I can land a few rare skills. Also I will try to catelog any rare items I get. I will do my best to take screens of my armors. Like always I will try to get some good screenies.

Do you have a preference for the screenshot res? Would you rather 1280x1024, or 1024x768? Also do you like the screens with or without the user GUI/HUD?

Cheers

EDIT: Here is a LINK to some of the images I took in the last Beta @ 1280x1024

Last BWE I completely forgot about taking screenshots. This event I'll be taking as many as possible. Also, whats the key combo to remove the GUI/HUD?

You're free to use any or all of those screens for whatever you wish, there's over 300 high res one's. I'm expecting to take another 200-500 screens this weekend now that I have a few new hd's and better computer.

I'd also like to remind people to take screens of their map so we can help MOOMANiBE complete the map project.

Next weekend I'll be rolling out my gwminer proggy, which was specifically built to leech gw info like skill descriptions and quest descriptions (like thottbot.com/cosmos did). Hopefully it gathers lots of info whilst keeping the crashes to a minimum. If it's successfull, I'll be able to almost instantly obtain a fully up to date description for each skill, quest, item, what have you.

That will be awesome if that proggy works without any trouble. *Crossing Fingers For Ya* I'm really interested to see what kind of info you end up with by the end of the next beta. Nice Work!

I know it's already in the original post, but for the love of God someone please either find Blood is Power or do your best to spread the charms around. Far too many skills are way to hard to get.

I think you mean www.imageshack.us Saus.

Also I can surely help with the screenshots, I'm a screenshot RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO. (1k+, from the WPE on, not even counting the many from E3) I'll be sure to hit that PrintScreen button like a double cheeseburger...

If you guys need screenshot hosting, I can offer it free of charge, you can even put up your own little php webpage or whatever. This offer's only open to those planning on uploading at least 100 nice screenshots.

No, I don't think we have a preference for resolution. We're not that picky. As for GUI, it depends on what you're taking a screenshot of, I suppose. If you want to take a picture of your armor, I'd take it off so nothing gets in the way, but if you want to snap a pic of some item's stats then obviously, you want it on. It's really up to you which you feel is appropriate. We do want skill icons and will probably find some use for pictures of the various parts of the GUI just as much as we love beautifully unadorned pictures of things, so either way is good with us.

Fezz is correct but I believe that CTRL+SHIFT+H will also hide the HUD when you're not taking a screenshot although I haven't checked in a while if that command's still available.

Yes I do. Sorry about that, I'll correct the top post.

Absolutely seconded. Maps are low on our priority list here because there's both so much else to get to as well as the fact that it's all bound to change by release but we're interested in compiling that sort of stuff eventually and we'll appreciate that, too. But, if we're not going to do it and MOOMANiBE is, feel free to help him out.

I should also point out that we're not asking for you to give us these pictures or information *exclusively* we intend to make all the info and pics you give us public precisely so they can be shared and used by other projects. Those pics, those tidbits, are yours to do with what you wish, we'd just appreciate you sharing them with us so that we can all benefit.

Stipulation above valid - I've got Arcane Conundrum, just need to grab a charm for it.

Now I just wonder if we can still make level 20 RP chars .

Alright. I'll try and get as many screenshots as I possibly can if I can remember to through all the excitement of the Beta Weekend. By the way, it's extremely easy to get a picture of Thunderclap if you make a pre-made Shock Sniper. Infact... I might even have one if I forgot to take the UI out of any of my pictures. I'll go check....

i think it's the skill on the far right of my skill bar - that was when my pre-made was better than my from-scratch for a minute. hehe.

I've got several of the skills on the list, either on my characters, or on my guildmates characters, as I spent several thousand gold last BWE gambling for skill charms. I'll see which ones we have, and get skill charms from my guildmates for skills they have that we need. A few can also be found on premades, so we can use those characters to get skill icons and descriptions for them(though the variable ranges might be difficult).

Ah, found it. Sorry, couldn't find this thread earlier when I posted a separate topic. Arcane Conundrum can be found in The Black Curtain near the Temple of Ages. Exiting the Temple of Ages, take a right and hunt in the swamp area. On the other side of the water, you will find Gack the Mindwrecker. He is a mesmer named mob that casts Arcane Conundrum, among other things. Just use your Signet of Capture and enjoy It's quite useful. Hope this helps a little. I can make a charm, if needed. Full in-game name is: Fythux Trituw
